Our culture has taken for granted for far too long what human nature, experience, common sense, and God’s wise design all confirm: the difference between a man and a woman matters, and the difference between a mom and a dad matters. While the culture has failed in many ways to be marriage-strengthening, this is no reason to give up. Now is the time to strengthen marriage, not redefine it.

Where is it from?

Transformed in Love is the end product of over six years of collaboration within the Archdiocese of Boston.

January 2006: Seán Cardinal O’Malley, OFM Cap., Cardinal Archbishop of Boston, established a Committee on Marriage to submit recommendations to strengthen the vocation of marriage in Boston.

September 2007: Seán Cardinal O’Malley, OFM Cap. established a subsequent committee to focus on strengthening marriage preparation.

September 2007–November 2009: Over 40 highly qualified individuals developed a new marriage preparation program: Transformed in Love: Building Your Catholic Marriage. Committee members and contributors to the development of the program included a bishop, judicial vicar, canon lawyers, theologians, psychologists, priests, deacons, religious sisters, and married couples. A Steering Committee, made up of a bishop, judicial vicar, canon lawyer, theologians and Archdiocesan staff members met monthly to oversee the development.

June 2009-present: 20 programs have been offered and over 850 participants have now gone through the program.

August 1 2013: Publication of Transformed in Love by Pauline Books & Media. Out of a sincere desire to share the program with other parishes and dioceses, the Archdiocese of Boston published Transformed in Love: Building Your Catholic Marriage.

We pray and hope it will be an instrument of God’s grace in many couples lives and that it will serve to strengthen the vocation of marriage, our Church and society.
